Funded by the EU Burj AL-Luqluq Organizes a Ceramic Paint Party

Burj Al-Luqluq organized a “Ceramic Paint Party” on Sunday 22nd September 2019, at the Borderline Café & Restaurant in Jerusalem. The activity comes within the “We’re the Change and We Changed– Fostering socio-economic empowerment and protection of vulnerable Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem- Phase II” Project implemented by BALL in partnership with CISP and funded by the European Union, and it was meant as a visibility event to promote the work of the BALL’ ceramic laboratory.

The lab was set-up thanks to the partnership of BALL and CISP under the previous phase of the project, as a small-business activity for design and handcrafting ceramic items, and it is now also a fully-equipped and welcoming space offering long-term professional training on ceramic to the local community.

Around 50 people attended the event in Borderline, that kindly offered to host the event in its garden and supported for the promotion and logistics. The afternoon started with a short presentation of the lab and a show of some of its artworks, and then every participant chose 2 bisque pieces to paint on and then color, while enjoying nice music, chatting and meeting each other, and learning from the guidance of Nimer, the ceramic lab’ trainer, and an artist himself. The participants included both adults and children, both locals and internationals.

The event was a success! All the participants enjoyed the evening and some of them asked for extra pieces to paint because they liked the activity. Other participants showed their interest in learning more about the BALL lab and being part in our ceramic intensive workshops, courses, and similar events related to ceramic that are planned to start in the upcoming months.
