Environment Quality Authority, Burj Al-Luqluq and the Ministry of Agriculture Organize an Environmental Tour to Deir Al-Sheikh & Qatlab Valley
The General Administration of Environmental Awareness and Education within the Environment Quality Authority, the Directorate of Agriculture in Jerusalem in partnership with Burj Al-Luqluq Social Center Society and with the participation of a number of Jerusalemite youth associations (Youth for Jerusalem, Bader and Al-Bustan Association) organized on Friday 4th November 2016 an environmental tour to Qatlab Valley and Deir Al-Sheikh displaced village on the occasion of the Arab Environmental Day titled “Anti-crisis and environmental disasters.”
Around 80 participants went on the tour alongside with the Jerusalemite tour-guide Khalil Sabri. The group went to a water path in Qatlab Valley and then they headed to Al-Sheikh displaced village. The tour aimed to aware youth about the environmental and natural treasures of an area that has experienced different cultures that assure the Palestinian identity.
Moreover, the tour included cultural and community activities like cleaning Deir Al-Sheikh village that is also known by “the Jerusalem Passage.” It is a Palestinian village that was displaced in 1948 and it is located around 16 kilometers to the west of Jerusalem.
