On Monday, 2019/2/18, the Burj Al-Laqlaq Community Society handed over the project Basmit Hara to Wad Al-Joz and Al-Sawwanah neighborhoods which contains two tents with an area of 160 square meters and 300 chairs and ten ropes to support the neighborhoods and the Jerusalem neighborhoods in its joys and sadness through a special committee of the neighborhood people to receive the tools.

The project is implemented through Burj al-Laqlaq Society with support and funding from donor countries (Sweden, Norway, Austria and Finland) through the Program for Support of Community Stability and Development in Areas C and East Jerusalem (CRDP) through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP Palestinian) for nine months.

The Project Coordinator, Mohammed Salah, said that the project is continuing in all areas of the city of Jerusalem with the aim of community change through the neighborhood committees in the Jerusalem neighborhoods. Moreover the rehabilitation of a private park in Shu›fat refugee camp has been completed, furthermore a parking and a children›s park are being built in Sheikh Jarrah area of Al-Samoud camp.

Salah explained that the first phase of the project targeted five areas in the city of Jerusalem, namely Silwan, Wad al-Jawz, Sawwanah, the Old City and Shu›fat Camp, and that the second version, which began this February, will target the areas of the south of Jerusalem and the north in full.

He added that special ideas will be implemented during the coming period in the Silwan neighborhood and the Old City and will be for collective community initiatives serving neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
