- Old City, Bab Hutta, East Jerusalem
Burj Al-Luqluq Community Center and Society was founded on December 10, 1991 as a response and a bulwark against the attacks represented by the Israeli agencies and ministries on the one hand, and settlement associations on the other where their agenda included seizing the land and establishing a settlement there. During the late eighties, a number of Jerusalemites, including individuals and Palestinian national institutions gathered at the site as a means of protecting the land.
Today, the Center is located within the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, with an area of 8.5 dunams, making it the largest center in the Old City and in Palestine in general. Since 1991, Burj Al-Luqluq has been striving to activate and invest in the site, expand its construction, and meet the various needs of the residents of the region.
Burj Al-Luqluq Community Center and Society is a national, non-profit organization that serves the residents of the Old City in general and the people of Bab Huttah neighborhood in particular, where more than fifty thousand Palestinians live within the walls of the Old City, including ten thousand in Bab Hutta neighborhood.
