Within the Burj Al-Watan project funded by the Arab Fund and under the supervision of Taawon The Young Guide program continues with his trips to promote the Palestinian identity

The “Youth Guide” team, in its fourth edition, organized a tour on Friday, 2019/29/11, in three main natural landmarks from the Acre district in northern Palestine. The tour which was the ninth tour of the “Young Guide” for this year included the eyes of Kordana, located in the Acre Plain, which nourishes the Naameen River, one of the famous rivers of the plain, which flows into the Mediterranean. In the eyes of Kordana, the participants learned about the types of historical mills that benefited from the flowing of river water to grind

grains, and visited one of them, whose current construction dates back to the Ottoman era. On their second stop, itinerants visited the fortress of Jeddah, one of the Crusader castles in our country that was built in the thirteenth century AD, and then re-used by the indigenous people of the country. In Jeddah, the team learned about the methods of building the Crusader castles and the political colonial context that prompted the proliferation of these castles during the Crusader period. Then they got acquainted with one of the most prominent battles of the 1948 war, which took place in March 1948, near Khirbet Jadin, and that was the attack on the «Ya›yam» convoy, one of the Zionist convoys that was on its way from Nahariya to deliver supplies and equipment and fighters to the nearby «Kibbutz» Ya›am «. On their third and final stop, the participants visited Wadi Al Qarn (Wadi Al Qurain), and its castle (Almontfort Castle), and they got acquainted with the Palestinian vegetation that distinguishes the area, such as willow trees, flip flop and siris. The tour also included the identification of villages, towns and landmarks that the tour passed through, such as the deserted village of Al-Kabri, the Ottoman water channel that transports

water from the eyes of Al-Kabri to Acre, and the towns of Shafa Amr, Mualla and Tarshiha, and others. It is noteworthy that the “Youth Guide” program is being implemented by Burj Al-luluq Social Center Society for the fourth time, and includes 12 tours throughout Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting young men and women their ages ranges between 28-18 years, under the guidance Khalil Sabri
