International Institutions & Representatives’ Offices Visits the UNICEF Projects in Jerusalem

Burj Al-Luqluq Social Center Society received a delegation from UNICEF in addition to several international institutions and representatives from conulates including the Swedish, Finnish, British, Swiss, Mexican and Canadian representatives, as well as the Spanish International Development Agency, Swedish Development Cooperation, European Union, French Development Agency, UNICEF›s partner institutions, Burj Al-Luqluq Social Center Society, Mada Community Center, Vision Center, Torture Victims Rehabilitation Center and Spafford Center, Yad Wahedeh, Gadleh Center and Al-Razi Center.

Ms. Genevieve, UNICEF Representative in Palestine, welcomed the attendees and explained that the visit aims to inform donors about the projects implemented in Jerusalem by the partner institutions and to identify the beneficiaries and talk to them.

The partner organizations, Burj Al-Luqluq Social Center Society, Mada Community Center, Vision Foundation, Victims and Torture Rehabilitation Center and Spafford Center, made presentations and screened short films showing the implemented projects and the results achieved.

During the visit, Burj Al-luqluq Society in partnership with UNICEF organized the third open day within the

  • Learn & Play « project, which was carried out in five main areas in Jerusalem: Isawiya, Jabal Al-Mukaber, Shu›fat Camp, Silwan, and the Old City. More than 400 children from beneficiary clubs participated in the event as well as partner institutions of the Coordinating Committee with UNICEF.

It is worth mentioning that UNICEF supports several Jerusalem institutions that are interested in children in terms of legal, educational, recreational and the protection of Palestinian children›s rights. UNICEF believes all children have a right to survive, thrive and fulfill their potential – to the benefit of a better world.

The open day included several activities for children like football and basketball games, as well as interactive arts, and play theater with “Fanakesh” interactive theater. The delegation was briefed on the activates and interacted with the children.
