Burj Al-Luqluq organizes an Introductory Session to Ceramics

Within “We are the Change… and We Changed”/ “Fostering socio-economic empowerment and protection of vulnerable Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem – Phase II”, implemented by BALL in partnership with CISP and funded by the EU, Burj Al-Luqluq Social Center Society organized an introductory session to vocational trainings on ceramics on Thursday 2019/08/22 at Al-Manarah Hall. in the presence BALL Executive Manager, Muntaser Edkaidek, the BALL project coordinator Aya Sbitan, the Ceramics Trainer Nimer Sartawi and Assistant Project Manager Amina Mustafa from CISP, in addition to the students who applied for the ceramic course.

 

Muntaser Edkaidek started the session by welcoming the audience, and then the ceramic teacher gave the students a general idea aboutthe plan of the lessons, including the history of ceramic artwork, the techniques that will be applied, examples of products. Participants in turn shared their expectations, aspirations and asked a number of questions about ceramics. Then, the project coordinator talked about the training days, hours, in addition to a simple explanation about the entrance exam which days will be determined later.

 

It is worth mentioning that the ceramic vocational training course will take place in BALL’ ceramic laboratory, that was set up in the previous phase of the Project, aiming to be also a small business. This is why the selected students will also learn about marketing, design, product’ placement and

– at the conclusion of their course – they are expected to be active part of this business as an opportunity for their self-empowerment.
